Beginners Course
Target Archery Beginners Courses
The club runs beginner’s courses for people who wish to try their hand at the sport. The courses are held either on a weekday evening or on Saturday afternoon's depending on the time of year and the availability of the instructors.
The course consists of 6 hours tuition run over a number of weeks to suit the availability and preferences of the instructors. During the period of the course the club will provide basic equipment for the beginner to use. All juniors (age 17 and under) must have a parent or guardian with them at all times for the duration of the course.
The current fee for the course can be obtained by contacting the Club Secretary.
Towards the end of the course beginners can apply for full membership of the club. All applications must be submitted to the committee, at the next scheduled meeting, for approval before membership can be granted. On approval of membership by the committee, the individual is invited to join the club, the fee for the first years membership now becomes payable.
Individuals joining the club will have to purchase their own equipment, costs of which can vary considerable dependent upon quality and type of equipment the individual wishes to purchase, as a guideline most individuals spend between £150 (for juniors) up to £600 (for seniors) on their first set of equipment. A number of equipment suppliers do package deals which include everything the new archer is likely to require, cost are around £250 - £400, dependant again on type of equipment.
Beginners will be assessed during the course and will be advise as to the type of equipment and specification that will be suitable for their use, also if asked in advance, club members will accompany individuals to the Archery suppliers when they go for their equipment.
